Friday | Take Wild Whatcom Bus for a day at Larrabee State Park (Clayton Beach)


Sample Itinerary

Activities may vary depending on participant interests and variable safety considerations (i.e. weather, preparedness, support needs)

8:30-8:45: Flexible Drop Off

  • Play game while waiting for participants to arrive

8:45-9:30: Opening Circle

  • Introductions: Share names and pronouns (optional)

  • Cover physical and heart safety

  • Land Acknowledgment 

  • Share plan for the day

9:30-9:45: Snack Break

9:45-10:45: Intro the Camp and Navigation Lesson

  • Each day we use our map and compass to guide us to various areas of Century Forest, where we will meet new creatures and complete different challenges, all of which will prepare us for our scavenger hunt on the final day.

  • To start we must learn the basics of reading a map and using a compass.

    • Lesson/Activity: Map and compass treasure hunt  

10:45-12:00: Challenge 1: Infinity’s Gates

  • Infinity guards the gates of Century Forest. You must work together as a team to complete her memorization maze to enter into the forest.

    • Lesson/Activity: Memorization team building activity

12:00-12:30: Lunch

12:30-2:00: Challenge 2: Rebuilding Water Crescent

  • Now that you have completed Infinity’s maze she informs you that a storm monster who goes by the name of Williwaw, has been rolling through the town of Water Crescent tearing down all the gnome’s homes. Navigate to Water Crescent and to help rebuild the town. 

    • Lesson/Activity: Shelter Building

  • At Water Crescent, you will meet Williwaw and will discover that it is in distress because its child, Nimbus, is sick. You must find the right medicinal plants to cure Nimbus’s illness. But this challenge will have to wait until tomorrow.

2:00-2:30: Peaceful Place

  • Map/Journal: Add to your map where you traveled to, and a symbol for what you learned/accomplished there. What new skills did you practice today?

2:30-2:45: Hike Back

2:45-3:00: Closing Circle

  • Preview of next day

  • Attitude of gratitude - What are you thankful for from our time together?
